Department of Travel Medicine and Travel Clinic

Travel is an important part of our lives. UK residents make ten of millions of visits overseas each year.

At the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) we believe that whether your trip is for work, holiday or to visit friends or relatives you should be able to travel with up to date, clear and comprehensive pre-travel advice.

What is different about our service?

The travel clinic offers a specialist consultant led service as well as a nurse led service.
Consultant consultations are for those who require specialist medical advice related to travel. This service is available on the NHS but only if you have a referral from your GP or your hospital specialist prior to your appointment. Alternatively you can pay privately for this consultation (see price list).

If you do not require a consultant appointment then you can visit our nurse led service which has an appointment fee in addition to the charges for vaccines and travel supplies (see price list).

Please note, if you book into one of these slots and during the consultation it becomes clear that you require a more specialist service you will be charged accordingly. You may have to be re-booked into a more suitable slot with a practitioner that can offer you the advice you require.

There is an initial consultation fee of £50.00 per person.

The HTD travel clinic offers a bespoke service providing specialist advice for clients. A consultation fee was first introduced to the clinic in 2003. This reflects a service offering advice and guidance around all areas of risk reduction and disease prevention related to travel and not just providing vaccines and antimalarial medication. We have managed to avoid any price increases since 2003 and in order to continue to provide this specialist service we will be increasing our specialist nurse-led consultation fee to £50 from the 1st January 2020.
